Yusof’s entrepreneurial journey in the culinary world started back in 1996 with opening of 2 ‘Canadian 2 For 1 Pizza’ stores in Singapore. Through his sheer hard work over the years, he was the driving force behind the business expansion of 15 stores island-wide by the year 2000.
In 2001, he and a group of investors started ‘Sarpinos Pizzeria’. The first franchise outlet was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. After the fourth outlet in KL, he moved and expanded the business to Singapore in 2003. By 2005, ‘Sarpinos Pizzeria’ had expanded to over 200 outlets worldwide mainly in SEA Region, Australia, the Middle East, North America, USA and China. Over the years, ‘Sarpinos Pizzeria’ has become a household name in Asia especially in Singapore and garnered many positive reviews from critics, media and the public.
In 2007, he was appointed as the Sole Agent in South-East Asia for ‘Moretti Forni’ of Italy, which specializes in pizza and bakery equipment. ‘Moretti Forni’ is one of Italy’s biggest and one of the world’s finest oven makers for both commercial and industrial kitchens. He has curated and supplied ‘Jamie’s Italian’ by Jamie Oliver, facebook’s corporate HQ in Singapore, multiple renowned 5 star hotels in Bali and many more.
In the year 2015, Yusof left ‘Sarpinos Pizzeria’ and moved on to setup ‘Pezzo Singapore’. In 2016, Yusof obtained the certification of ‘Master Pizza Chef’ from ‘Pizza University’ in Italy and thereafter, became instructor and lecturer of the prestigious university.
In 2016, he also founded the ‘Pizza University’ in Batam Riau Island of Indonesia in collaboration with ‘Pizza University’ of Italy and ‘Batam Tourism Polytechnic’.
Over a span of more than 2 decades, his contributions to the pizza world and community has been inspirational and motivational to many and has continued mentoring countless entrepreneurs. He has been interviewed by ‘Razor TV of Straits Times Singapore’ and multiple news outlets in Batam, featured in various magazines and a full write up article by ‘Berita Harian’ of Singapore labeling him, the ‘Pizza King’ of our region.
His latest venture was in 2017 when he started and created the brand ‘MyPizza’. With the wealth of experience, the undying passion, the science of making pizzas, the love of entrepreneurship and the art of perfecting his skill, he now has a bigger purpose to accomplish. Passing on the ropes to his son and riding the expedition together, to build and grow ‘MyPizza’ to be another go-to pizza parlor in Singapore and soon, Asia.
